Fifty thousand users in six months, built by one engineer
A highway travel-discovery product for Indian road trips: backend, Android app and infrastructure built end to end, reaching fifty thousand users within six months of launch.
The problem
Highway Delite set out to map what is worth stopping for on India’s highways: food, fuel, rest and sights, with the reliability a driver needs. The founders had the domain knowledge and no engineering team.
What we built
The whole product. A backend and admin on OctoberCMS and Laravel for curating places, a native Android app with maps and offline-friendly reactive data, and the deployment pipeline to run it. The work included a stint as interim CTO, pitching the product to a venture panel under the Karnataka startup policy.
What it changed
The app reached fifty thousand users in its first six months with a 4.7 rating on the Play Store, on a codebase one engineer could ship and operate. The company continued on the platform after the engagement ended.
